GOLF ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Wanganui, September 30. A proposal brought forward by Mr. F. O. Fryer, on behalf of the Parkvale Club, to amend the New Zealand Golf Association’s rules to provide for the setting up of district associations, created a lively discussion at the annual conference of the association to-night. Mr. Fryer also proposed that the capital levy should remain at 2s. for men and Is. for ladies, but that the percentage of the sum raised by each association should be retained by it and the balance remitted to the New Zealand Association. Mr. L. Seifert (Palmerston North) was of opinion that golf could not be worked in New Zealand without some centralised organisation. Other delegates objected on the score of expense. Golf was an individual game and it could not be seen what work would be for sub-associations to do. The proposal was lost, 29 votes being recorded in favour and 89 against. The council was re-elected with the exception of the substitution ofg Colonel R. O. Chesney for Mr. N. R. Baineaves. It was recommended to the council that the amateur and open events be separated.
