CANADIAN DAIRY INDUSTRY
EFFECT OF NEW ZEALAND TRADE TREATY
'Australian Press Assn.—United Service.
Vancouver, August 29.
Closing a five weeks’ tour of British Columbia. Mr. R. B. Bennett, Federal Conservative leader, speaking at Fernie, again contended that the New Zealand trade treaty had worked to the disadvantage of Canada and had destroyed the Canadian dairy industry. It had reduced the number of cows, he said, increased the price of meat, and made the Dominion a dependent country for butter. He declared: “Our partv will never consent to a transaction or treaty which will destroy any industry indigenous to Canada.”
