A MENACE TO THE COMMUNITY
RECAPTURED PRISONER SENTENCED By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland. August 5. Air. Justice Ostler to-day declared William Ingram, a recaptured prisoner, an habitual criminal nnd sentenced him to three years’ hard labour on two charges of false pretences. His Honour said : “The community cannot stand a man who goes round like you do on a crazy orgy of passing valueless .cheques.” Benjamin Speight, an elderly man, was sentenced to reformative detention not exceeding five years for indecent assaults on small girls nt Alorrinsville. His Honour said the prisoner was a to the public and to the children in the district.
