“FLYING BOAT” BREAKS LOOSE
PASSENGERS FLUNG HEADLONG INTO CROWD TWENTY-THREE INJURED (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Australian Press Association. (Rec. August 4, 11 p.m.) London, August 3. A “flying boat” broke loose at a pleasure ground at Southend while revolving at great speed. Passengers were flung out on top of a great crowd, which was transformed into a screaming, struggling mass. Twelve persons from the “flying boat” were taken to hospital, also eleven from the crowd. It is recalled that four people were killed in a similar accident at Margate last year.
