WAIRARAPA TOURNAMENT Masterton, August 3. Perfect weather prevailed this ufterinoon, when the Wajrarapa Basketball Association held its annual tournament. Entries were received from 44 teams’ and six courts were kept occupied for most of the day, the secretary (Miss Leys) being kept busy with organisation matters. Greatest interest centred around the three biggest grades—Senior, Secondary B, and Primary B—and excellent play took place. In fact, the standard of play generally was -well up to that seen in the larger centres. During the afternoon the selectors, Miss Leys and Miss O. R. Sutherland, chose a representative team to play in the Dominion tournament at Christchurch in three weeks’ time. The team is as follows:—Goal, D. O’Donnell (captain) ; JI. Collins, P. Hessell; centre, U. Snadden, E. Cross. M. Jones; defence, G. Angrove, D. Mahoney aud Smith; emergencies, S. Gully, N. Donaldson, JI. Turley. The team will be accompanied by Jliss Matthews, who is the Wairarapa delegate to the Dominion Conference. Detailed results of the tournament play are as follow: — Primary B.
