PALMERSTON GIRLS’ HIGH - SCHOOL WINS HODDER. SHIELD. Palmerston North. August 3. In an excellent hockey match this afternoon, Palmerston North. Girls’ High School defeated Wanganui Girls’ College in u match for the Hodder*Shield. The match was hard-fought, both teams showing considerable knowledge of the game. Towards the closing stages the winners showed great dash. The Palmerston ■North centre-forward, M. McColl, gave an outstanding performance, netting five goals. FEILDING GAMES. The following is the draw for the Jfanawatu Jlen’s Hockey Association’s sealed handicap competition, which will commence on Wednesday’:—First week: Palmerston North v. Phoenix; Central Old Boys v. Broadway. Second week: Broadway v. Palmerston North; Central Old Boys v. Phoenix. Third week: Central Old Boys v. Palmerston North; Broadway v. Phoenix. ■ The probable date for the Jlauawatu v. Feilding Winter Shield challenge match at Palmerston North is August 14. The Winter Shield was won by Jfanawatu from Dannevirke last season, and if the holders are successful in retaining it against Feilding they will be called upou to withstand a challenge from Wanganui later in the season. i WANGANUI GAMES.
