IRISH FREE STATE VENTURE Dublin. July 22. An important step toward the completion of the Irish Free State’s £6.000.000 hydro-electric scheme, in which its hopes of economic salvation are bound up. will be taken tomorrow. The President of the Dail. Mr. W. T. Cosgrave, will press a button, and b) so doing open the sluice gates at Parteen. County Clare, through which the River Shannon’s waters will swerve from their ancient course into a long canal, leading to the great electricity works at Ardna Crusha. Tt is hoped that, by the end of the year, giant turbines will be working, radiating cheap light, heat, and power throughout the Free State.
