COAL DISPUTE
GAS RESTRICTIONS IN SYDNEY Sydney, August 2. Stringent gas restrictions are. to be enforced for the next four days. Gas can only be used for three hours in the morning and at night . A hundred persons are to be prosecuted for infringing the restriction* during the past fortnight. Mr. Sutherland, organiser of the Federated Engine Drivers, in a statement, charged the miners’ leaders with refus ing to move for a settlement of the coal dispute, because of their fear of facing the victimisation issue that migh arise when the settlement came.
