SCOUT BIRTHDAY RALLY
The great birthday rally of Girl Guides and Boy Scouts at the Kilbirnie Stadium to-day, promises to be something quite out. of the ordinary as far as displays are concerned. Wellington resi dents will have the opportunity of beingpresent in their thousands, not only to see the splendid programme from 2.15 p.m. until 4 but also of showing their practical interest in the greatest youth movement in the world to-day. A most comprehensive programme from the moment of the arrival of His Excellency, the Governor-General, and Lady Alice Fergusson. until the finish, will be given. In addition to the numerous ordinary scout activities that will be shown the erection of a tower and a flagpole tiOft. high will bo a feature. A model camp by the Ist Wellington City Rovers and the Kelburu Troop, with gadgets, will be shown. The Sea Scout companies will build a boat. A trestle bridge containing 2(10 poles will bo erected by the St. Augustine scouts. Two hundred scouts front tli<- W.-iirarapa will display a human compass. A physical drill display will be given by the Wellesley College Troop, and the Island Bay Troop will present an Indian rescue scene. The Girl Guides will show figure marching, and give a display of work done after passing the second class test, and country dancing will be given to the South Wellington companies A combined life-saving display will be given by the Lyall Bay and Seatoun Troops. A march of the League of Scouts will take place, bearing a card showing the nations who have adopted scouting in the world to-day. Fire-fight-ing displays will be given by the Kilbirnie and Brooklyn Troops.
