KAIWARRA GORGE COLLISION
CLAIM SETTLED OUT OF COURT in tile Supreme Court yesterday the claim for damages as the result of a collision in Kaiwarra Gorge was settled after being part heard. The case was adjourned on Thursday for the jury to inspect the scene of the accident, and when it was called yesterday it was announced that a settlement had been reached. The plaintiff was Desire Stephaan Marcus, of Wellington, and the defendant James Frederick Lilley, builder, of Wellington. Plaintiff, who is a mechanic, was ou a motor-cycle and defendant was driving a motor-car. A collision took place and plaintiff received serious injuries and claimed for damages. The Chief Justice (Hon. M. Myers) gave judgment by consent for the plaintiff for £829, inclusive of costs, saying he was satisfied the settlement was fair to both parties.
