HIGHWAYS COUNCIL
“VOICES IN THE WILDERNESS.” Masterton, August 2. “I should like to draw attention to the representative of vested interests on the Highways Advisory Council,” said .Mr. T. Jordan, at a meeting of the Wairarapa Progress League this afternoon, when a recommendation concerning heavy traffic foes was placed before it by the Transport Committee. Mr, Jordan said that the Mayor of Wellington represented all boroughs in New Zealand, and that Mr. Morrison was the sole representative of the counties. He was given to understand that their voices there were as those in a wilderness. The league adopted the recommendation that tlie retention of heavy traffic fees on the present scale, without reduction, be advocated.
