On account of the extent to which flax fibres absorbed moisture from the atmosphere and the effect of that absorption on the tensile strength, it bad been found necessary to tit ng a constant humidity chamber for the tests of tensile strength, which Dr. ■ Yeates was carrying out, lit connection with flax seedlings. 'Bhere were 24 pigs in the feeding trials and tests were being carried out with whey paste feeding. Three pigs were being fed solely on whey for an examination of the bacon made from them to be carried out bv the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.
