ITALY SENDING TEN SEAPLANES GREAT SPEED ATTAINED IN TRIALS (United Service.) London, July 31. Italy is sending ten racing seaplanes for a final practice over the Schneider Trophy course in tl ? Solent, and will select the three best performers for the race on September 7. It is reported that the fastest Italian machines have reached a speed of 360 miles an hour in preliminary trials. One seaplane has engines front and rear, totalling 2000 h.p., the pilot sitting between them. GRAF ZEPPELIN STARTS FOR AMERICA Australian Press Assn.—United Service. (Rec. August 1, 7.0 p.m.) London, August 1. A Friedrichshafen message states that the Graf Zeppelin departed for America at 3.30 this morning. PILOT KILLED IN COLLISION Australian Press Association. Paris, July 31. Two military ’planes collided. One lost Its propeller and glided down safely. The other went out of control. The pilot tried to jump clear, but was cut to pieces by the propeller.
