LOCAL BODY LOANS
An Order-in-Council in the Gazette authorises the Wellington City Council to raise £130,000 in respect of the "Wainui Waterworks Loaj, 1880, Repayment Loan, 1929.” The term of the loan is limited to fifteen years. The Governor-General authorises the Manawatu-.Oroua Electric Power Board to borrow £18,300, being the balance of a loan of £500,000, for a term of twenty years. The Wanganui County Council is to raise a loan of £2500 for the purpose of reconstructing the Auckland-Wellington main highway between Wanganui and Wangaehu. The rate of interest is fixed at 5 j per cent., and the loan will expire on March 31, 1931. The South Taranaki Electric Power Board is given authority to purchase the electric works of the Hawera County Electric Lighting Company, Ltd., according to the award of the arbitrators, dated May 8, 1929.
