GROWTH OF MIRAMAR
MINISTER OF\ EDUCATION VISITS THE SCHOOLS How Miramar is growing was brought home to the Minister of Education (Hon. H. Atmore) yesterday morning, when in company with Mr. T. Forsyth (chairman of the board) and Mr. R. Semple (M.P. for Wellington East), he visited the schools of the district. The party first visited the Miramar South School, which, although only a few years old, has had to be added to from time to time, to keep pace with the growth of the school population. Afterwards the new school at Miramar Central was inspected. This school was only opened at the beginning of the year, and yet is reported to be “crowded out.” Such is the position that the hoard is looking for a suitable site for a new school at Miramar North, to accommodate the large number of children belonging to families that are making their homes on the sunny hills of that locality. Later on, the Minister and party visited the Worser Bay. Seatoun, and Lyall Bay Schools, and in each ease, the scholars were briefly addressed by the Minister, and also given a halfholiday. This was very much appreciated, as the weather was perfect.
