"VIEW TO MATRIMONY”
NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT ADVERTISEMENTS An assurance that no complaints had been made to the authorities regarding matrimonial advertisements and that there was no evidence that such were inserted for improper purposes was given to Mr. R. McKeen (Wellington South) by the Minister of Justice (Hon. T. M. Wilford) in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr..McKeen had asked whether the Minister would have a searching inquiry made by the police into the real source of the advertisements, to find whether the motive of the advertisers was an honest and conscientious one, and whether he would take steps to make it compulsory for such advertisers to publish their address so that their bona fides could be investigated If necessary. The Minister, in replying, stated that the police had no authority to require publishers to furnish the source of advertisements, and that It would require legislation to make it compulsory for the addresses of advertisers to be published.
