Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the Matakana arrived at London on Tuesday morning from Wellington, via Montevideo. The C. and D. liner Port Dunedin will arrive at Wellington this morning from Lyttelton, and will berth at the Pipltea Wljarf to complete loading. The Federal Company advise that the Norfolk, which is to leave Liverpool on September 14 for New Zealand, will discharge at Napier in addition to other ports. Advice received by the Sydney Marine Underwriters’ Association states that the recent outbreak of fire on the Federal Line steamer Pakipaki at New York caused considerable damage to cargo In Nos. 1 and 2 holds. The vessel was loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. After the fire there was 6ft. of water in Nos. 1 and 2 holds, which contained oils, a motor-car, and also general merchandise.
