GERMAN SCIENTIST ARRIVES By Telegraph.—Press Association. t Auckland, July 30. In search "of data concerning the Indian and Pacific Oceans, Doctor Phil. P. Gerhard Scott arrived to-day by the Maheno from Australia. He is conducting investigations relating to ocean depths, salinity, and other peculiarities, in the interests of navigation, for the German Shipping Institute of Hamburg. He has been in India, China, and Japan on this mission. He leaves for Wellington to-night to confer with the Government geologist, Dr. Marshall, and the Dominion Meteorologist, Dr. Kidson.
