NAVAL REGATTA
NEW ZEALAND CREWS COMPETE HEAVY RAIN EXPERIENCED AT HERVEY BAY (Rec. June 18, 9 p.m.) Sydney, June 18. The fighting ships of Australia and New Zealand at Hervey Bay experienced a regular deluge for five days. The rain, which came down in torrents, delayed the naval regatta. New Zealand crews competed in the mile event. In whalers for seamen the Diomede men came second. In a similar event for artisans the Diomede men were third. In the half-mile for veteran officers in skiffs the Dunedin crew was third. Australians participated In all the other events. The New Zealanders cheered themselves hoarse and made merry at the expense of the competitors.
