“A recommendation has gone forward to the Minister of Internal Affairs to prohibit feeding ducks on ponds,” stated the president of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society (Mr. C. H. Lawrence) at the annual meeting (says the “Lyttelton Times”). His remark was made in reply to Mr. R. S. McKenzie, who said that something should be done to stop the pond shooting as now carried on. The ducks were not shot, they were murdered, he declaied. Shooters had only to feed ducks on a pond and then shoot as many as they wanted to.
