FROM BUCKINGHAM PALACE GUARD UNAVAILING SEARCH FIRST SUCH DISAPPEARANCE IN ARMY’S HISTORY (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Service.) (Rec. May 1, 11.50 p.m.) London, May 1. Scotland Yard and the military authorities are investigating the disappearance from Buckingham Palace of a Scots Guard sentry, whose absence the patrolling policeman reported. The Palace precincts were unavailingly searched till daylight broke. The sentry’s busby and rifle were found in Green Park, 200 yards from the Palace. His bayonet is still missing. The “Daily Mail” points out that a disappearance from a post on the Palace guard is unparalleled In the history of the Army.
