LIONS IN TREES
REMARKABLE PICTURES FROM AFRICA (United irvlce.) London, April 30. Do lions climb trees?” The Ion" debated question is definitely settled by the publication in “The Times” of a remarkable series of big game closeups taken in the wilds of Kenya and Tanganyika by Colonel M. Maxwell One lion is seen resting on the branches of a tiee, and another actually walking along a bough. The pictures show that the lions do not leap from branch to branch, but work their way up tht boughs. The London Zoo will shortly carry out experiments to find out whether tigers are also tree climbers. High branches will be placed in an outdoor cage with a platform on top on which meat will be placed.
