COLLIDED WITH GOVERNOR’S CAR
AUCKLAND MOTORIST FINED Dominion Special Service. Auckland, May 1. A collision with the Governor-Gen-eral’s motor-car in Queen Street on the evening of April 10 resulted in the appearance of F. Beehan at the Magistrate’s Court this morning on a charge of dangerous driving. According to Mr. G. M. Hogan, chief traffic officer, Ills Excellency was on his way to the Town Hall and his car had just turned across Queen Street to draw up before the door when Beehan, who was travelling down Queen Street, collided with it. He struck the Vice-Regal car by the rear wheels, but did little damage. Mr. Wallace, who appeared for Beehan, was of opinion that his client was unfortunate. Counsel considered that had it been any other car than the Governor-General’s nothing more would have been heard of the incident. Mr. Hogan assured the Court that the charge would have been brought whoever the owner of the damaged car had been. Beehan was fined 10s. and costs.
