Owing to May 1 to 28 being the qulnqennial statistical period for ascertaining the particulars necessary for determining the transit charges on mall mattor • due by one country to another, it will be necessary to close certain oversea mails earlier than usual during that time. OUTGOING OVERSEA MAILS. Mails for Australian States, South Africa, and the East, per Tahiti, close at Wellington on Tuesday, May 7, at noon (late fee C.P.O. 1 p.m.). Malls for Norfolk Island close at Wellington on Thursday, May 9, at 5 p.m. (late fee C.P.O. 0 p.m.), per Maui Pomare at Auckland. Mails for Great Britain, Ireland, and Continent of Europe (specially addressed correspondence only), Pitcairn Island, also Central America, British, French, and Dutch Guiana, Venezuela, Republic of Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador, per Rangitlki, close at .Wellington on Friday, May 10, at 3 p.m. (late fee C.P.O. 4 p.m.).
