EKETAHUNA NOTES
At the County Council meeting it was decided to reopen the summit hill portion of the Pongaroa-Eketahuna road and to ask the Main Highways Board to do the metalling. This road has been closed a long time on account of a serious washaway. Miss Joan Didsbury, of Wellington, has been appointed the dental nurse for the newly established school clinic. The local Women’s Institute have changed their meeting day from Monday to Thursday to meet the wishes of outlying district visitors. At the annual meeting of the Bush district branch of the Education Institute Mr. M. J. O’Connor was elected president, Miss M. C. Edmed secretary and treasurer, and Miss H. Ross appointed district representative. Eleven ladies’ teams nnd five men’s teams took part in the seven-a-side hockey tournament on Wednesday.
