Dannevirke. April 15. The annual meeting of the Daunevjrkc Hunt Club disclosed a happy position, the credit balance of £29 3s. 7d. at the beginning of the financial year having increased to £44 6s. 9d., while at the same time £3OO had been paid off the mortgage on the club’s kennels property. Members’ subscriptions had increased from £290 Bs. to £34(1, and the annual ball also showed an increase in the takings of £22. Altogether the position was such that the guarantors had been relieved of their liability and the overdraft at the bank had been cancelled. Officers were elected as follow: Patron. Air. J. Holden ; president. Air. F. Armstrong; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. A. B. Knight and P. F. Wall; Alaster, Mr. W. H. Gaisford; deputy-masters, Alessrs. J. McDonald (Dannevirke), and Geoff. Speedy (Takapap) ; treasurer, Air, R. N. Blakeston. The Dannevirke Bowling Club closed its season on Saturday, and the weather being very impropitious, only one rink match was played, Barker. Glover, Webber and Clark (s.) defeating Weavers, Westlake. Boniface, and Canning (s.). 29 to 22. Dannevirke, April-17. Mr E. E. Hackell, 8.A.. has been selected’as assistant science roaster at the Dannevirke High School. At present Mr. Hackell is on the staff of the Sumner District High School. Mr. A. Green, a late member, had donated the debenture of £lO held by him. £7B had been received from the Increased subscriptions over the previous season. After paying interest on debentures at 6 tier cent, for the past year reducing the mortgage by £4OO, and making provision for depreciation .the not profit for the year was £309. Appreciative reference to the services of Alessrs. Jonathan Holden and G. J. J. Bucltannn, who are not seeking re-eleetlon to tho Hospital Board, were made at the meeting of that body, and it was decided that the operating table, piano, and clock, all donated by Air. Holden, should lie engraved with his name, as through an oversight this had not been done when the gifts were made some years ago. Appreciation was also expressed of the work of Air. W. A. Lyon, a Woodville representative, who also is retiring from office.
