MEN’S SOCIETY
The men of Wadestown and Highland Park met in St. Luke’s Schoolroom on Thursday last and formed a Men’s Society to meet-and discuss topics of modern interest introduced by leading public men and to promote good fellowship and general recreation among men in the district. There was a good attendance and the Rev. F. H. Wilkinson presided. The Hon. Mr. Justice MacGregor was elected patron, and an interim committee was elected, consisting of Messrs. K. M. MacDonald, A. Hannah, R. Liggins, Hutchinson and the Revs. F. H. Wilkinson and J. E. Ashley-Jones, who are to submit a syllabus for the session and suggested names for the society. Mr. W. D. Lambie gave an instructive and interesting lecturette on “To What Extent Should New Zealand Support Empire Trade?” The address was thoroughly enjoyed and quite a number entered into the discussion. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Lambie. .
A light supper and a friendly talk followed and the evening concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. The society decided to meet at St. Luke’s old school room every third Thursday in the month. On some occasions there will be musical items.
