A very fine sample of gold was shown to a “Mataura Ensign” representative the other morning. The sample comprises over 200 ounces of gold, valued at over £BOO mnd it was obtained from the Moonlight’ claim, eight miles north of Queenstown The gold in question represents a partial wash-up as the result of six months’ work. A Gora syndicate owns the Moonlight claim, and the chairman says that there is every prospect of substantial returns in the future.
