PREMISES RANSACKED
BARBER’S STOCK STOLEN CLEAN SWEEP BY THIEVES By Telegraph.—Press Association. - Napier, March 4. Almost the entire stock on the premises of Mr. Frank Whisker (hairdresser and tobacconist), in Hastings, was stolen by burglars some time during the week-end. Mr. Whisker left the shop locked and barred on Saturday night. On returning this morning he found the drawer had been opened, and tobacco, cigarettes, pipes, toilet articles, and in short, almost everything movable gone. Only a small box of articles which the thieves themselves had packed was left. Even the scissors and razors had been stolen, and this morning Mr. Whisker had only two or three razors, which he had at home, as his stock-in-trade with which to begin business. v The burglars apparently attempted to force the door with a crowbar and chisel, but on failing, smashed a panel and undid the lock. Besides making an obviously unhurried and painstaking clean sweep of the stock, the intruders left a note in which, after informing “Dear Sir” they were strangers to the town, asked him not to inform the police too soon of the crime.
