BREACHES OF GAMING ACT
WARNING TO LICENSEES. Dominion Spectai Service. Christchurch, March 1. An echo of the recent bookmaking charges was heard at the quarterly meeting of the Christchurch Licensing Committee this morning, when the police made a special report to the Committee, alleging that certain licensees had not exercised a proper supervision over their hotels. The hotels concerned were the Masonic, City,'White Hart, and Al. The chairman of tint Licensing Committee (Mr. H. A. Young) agreed With the police contention that the licensees were responsible for the conduct of their hotels, and issued a warning to the efl.ect that any licensee who allowed any breaches of the Gaming Act to be committed on hotel premises would endanger his license.
