TRAM DESTINATION AND ROUTE SIGNALS

Sir,—lt has often occurred to me how difficult it must be to visitors to the sity to know the destination and route of our trams. Even I, a resident of many years, find that I ' have to step out into the street at some risk nowadays and in front of the tram in order to see the destination board. Why not, as in Auckland, have the route plainly denoted at right angles to the footpath? To the daily user of the trams, force of habit makes it easy enough, but for the visitor and the occasional user it is quite another matter. It is these little things that make a city popular.
