DIRECTOR AND EDUCATION BOARD
Sir, —There can be little satisfaction in exchanging opinions with any individual who under the shelter of anonymity indulges in quips and cranks to satisfy his vanity and prove that he is just one of that ordinary sort of people who crowd the market place with their carping at what the more enterprising and self-sacrificing are doing and shirking the. doing of anything themselves. I would not have taken notice of such a correspondent .but for the fact of his unreasonable attack on the Board of Education, his hopeless and untenable defence of the action of the Director of Education and the obligation to defend the board. However, I wonder is this dilettante, “Mr. W.A.T.,” really in earnest about anything, with his mordant outlook on things and his support of a position it is hopeless to defend, unless prompted by a concern at the prospect of the board or some other organisation, some time or other, recognising his conduct, for certainly his manners leave something to be desired? But, Sir, let “W.A.T.”' come out in the open to prove himself and it will afford me satisfaction in showing the qualities ■ he makes so great an exhibition of will break no ice or. make evident that whatever he thinks and would have dorie would be of any advantage except to satisfy a silly conceit.—l am. etc., G. LOUDON. Wellington, March 1.
