SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE An increase of £33,000 in the Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington in February is shown when compared with the figures for the; corresponding month last year. This month there was a considerable increase in the Customs duties collected at Christchurch as compared with those for February, 1928. The Customs figures for February, 1929, were £84,297. Beer duties were £6844, as against £5736. The motor spirits, etc., was £12,086, as against £lOOl, and tire tax amounted to £835, as against £1567.
