STEADY PROGRESS
N.Z. MANUFACTURERS “I feel this conference is one of the best I have ever attended,” said the president (Mr. F. Campbell) in his concluding speech at the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation Conference yesterday. Mr. Campbell expressed the conviction that the federation would go ahead. Perhaps slow progress had been made in the past, but nevertheless the movement was going ahead. When the next conference was held he hoped it would be found that progress had been maintained, and that New Zealand industries were flourishing under the stimulus of a national sentiment. Mr. G. Finn (Auckland) said that a great measure of the success attained by the conference was due to the able chairmanship of Mr. Campbell. (Applause.) In his opinion trading within the Empire began with trading within New Zealand.
It was decided to refer fixing of the date of the next conference to the officers of the federation.
