A depression is crossing the South Island. An anti-cyclone extends between Auckland and Sydney. Moderate to strong winds between west and south-west, reaching gale force at places in and south of Cook Strait. Seas rough south of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint; elsewhere in New Zealand waters moderate. Moderate to strong south-westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate seas in the northern portion, and rather rough in the southern portion. Weather unsettled and showery in western districts of the South Island and south of Oamaru; scattered showers also in the Western districts of the North Island; elsewhere mainly fair to fine. Cool temperatures.
