The Minister of Health (Hon. A. J. Stallworthy), who spent the week-end at Tongariro National Park, returned to Wellington* yesterday. He will be present at the opening of the conference of the British Medical Association to-day. The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. J. G. Cobbe) returned to Wellington yesterday. The Minister of Railways (Hon. W. B. Taverner), who is at present in Dunedin, is expected back in Wellington at the end of the week. The Minister of Public Works (Hou. E. A. Ransom), who is touring the North Island, is due back in ■ Wellington on Monday next. The Minister of Education (Hon. H. Atmore) will return to Wellington from Nelson to-day. The Minister of Labour (Hon. W. A. Veitch) will represent the Government at the Masterton A. and P. show to-morrow. The Leader of the Opposition (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) left Wellington for Auckland last night. Sir James Mills left for Marton by the 'Limited express last night. The Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup) returned to Wellington from Tongariro National Park yesterday. To-day he will tender a civic reception -to the delegates at the conference of the British Medical Association, and to the English schoolboys who have just arrived. Sir Lindo and Lady Ferguson arrived by the Wahine op Sunday from the south. Mr. H. Desborough, manager of Messrs. Thomas Cook and Sons, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr. E. Phillips Turner, director of the State Forest Service, returned to Wellington yesterday from the National Park. Mr. E. A. Shrimpton, of Wellington, who is a director of the Tongariro Park Tourist Co., Ltd., has returned from National Park. • » Mr. E. D. Verschaffelt, Public Service Commissioner, went northward by last night’s Limited express?. Colonel C. G. Powley, D.C.M.G., D. 5.0., arrived from the North by the Limited express yesterday morning. Mr. F. G. Cray, who has been in indifferent health for some time, is leaving this week for Pieton Sounds, in order to recuperate, and will return to Wellington on March 6. Dr. Elizabeth Gunn arrived in Wellington from Wanganui yesterday, to attend the medical conference. Messrs. H. R. Jenkins, and H. S. S. Kyle, M.P’s. arrived in Wellington by the Limited express frdm Auckland yesterday morning. Mr. G. G. Stewart, head of the Railway Publicity Department, returned from Tongariro yesterday. He was present at the ceremony in connection with the electrification of the Lyttelton Tunnel on Thursday, reached Wellington on Friday morning, left in the afternoon for National Park, and visited Tokaanu on Sunday. Mr. A. H. Messenger, head of the New Zealand Publicity Department, who was at the National Park on Saturday, went through to Taupo on Sunday with the intention of reaching Napier yesterday, on his way to meet Mr. Zane Grey, at Mercury Bay. He will be back in Wellington at the beginning of next week. A Press Association message from Sydney announces the death yesterday, after an operation, of Mr. A. M. Kay, Chief of the New South Wales Hansard staff, aged 60 years. Mr. Kay was born in New Zealand and was formerly of the New Zealand Hansard staff.
