HINKLER’S AERIAL EXPLOIT
VOTED INTERNATIONAL GOLD MEDAL (Australian Press Association.) (Rec. January 12, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, January 11. The International Aeronautical Federation. at to-day’s congress, awarded Mr. Bert Hinkler it gold medal for the finest aerial exploit in 1928 —his flight from England to Australia. (Rec. January 13, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, January 12. Kingsford Smith, Sir Hubert Wilkins, De la Cierva, the inventor of the auto-glro. and the Frenchman Costes, who flew round the world, also the Italian Ferrarin, who flew from Italy to Brazil, each received only one vote below Hinkler for the international gold medal. __
