£l5OO OVER-EXPENDED”
PALMERSTON HOSPITAL ACCOUNTS
Palmerston North, January 11. “Wo are now £l5OO over-expended, but it has been unavoidable. The accounts have been carefully scrutinised, said Sir James Wilson, chairman, at the Palmerston North Hospital Board meeting yesterday. , , The amount collected, he continued, was a few pounds over the estimate for December, but there was a big discrepancy between the actual maintenance expenditure and the estimate. The increase in the large number of patients was practically the sole cause of this. Comparing the Christmas periods of 1927 and 1925. he said there had been an increase of 50 patients. A basis of 200 patients would have to be adopted in framing next year’s estimates.
