MESSAGE TO PEOPLE OF RUSSIA
FROM GRAND DUKE NICHOLAS DECISIVE MOMENT APPROACHING (Australian Press Association.) (Rec. January 10,'7.35 p.m.) London, January 9. A message from Cannes states that in the presence of the remnant of the Russian Royal Family, nobles, and refugees of all classes, many of them taxi-drivers and waiters from Paris, the body of the Grand Duke Nicholas was placed in a crypt. Eight Russian generals were pall-bearers. Marshal Petain represented France. Shortly before his death the Grand Duke signed a message to the people of Russia that the decisive momeut was approaching. “Gather your forces with a holy cross in your hand and resume progress along the road of greatness. Glory is marked out for you. Spare neither strength nor means for the country’s redemption.”
