LORD BEAVERBROOK’S ESCAPE
PRACTICAL GRATITUDE (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Rec. January 1, 5.5 p.m.) London, December .31. In gratitude for his escape from a motor smash at Surbiton on December 28, when himself, his secretary, and chauffeur were injured, Lord Beaverbrook is distributing £25,000. He has already given £l2OO to individuals who first assisted them, including £lOOO to a local medical school, and offering £lOOO to Surbiton Hospital. He asks Mr. Baldwin to distribute the remainder, chiefly to assist medical education.
