FIGURES FOR DECEMBER The Customs revenue and beer duty collected at the port of Wellington during December were as follow (for purposes of comparison the figures for December, 1027, are given in parentheses) :— Customs revenue, £229.062 Bs. Bd. (£231,471 Hs. 4d.); beer duty, £6148 16s. (£5179 17s. 7d.). The petrol tax for December. 1928, was £23.210 ss. 4d., and the tire tax for the same period totalled £3919 12s. sd.

REVENUE AT CHRISTCHURCH Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, December 31. The Customs revenue totals collected in Christchurch on beer, dairy produce, meat and honey for the 12 months ended to-day are slightly lower than those for the year 1927. "the difference being £4846 Ils. od. The figures covering the net general customs are not yet available, but it is probable that when these are added the total will be in excess of the previous years. A falling-off in the receipts for beer and dairy produce is ’responsible in greater part for the lowering of the figures. The export duty on meat is also slightly lower, but honey shows a comparatively big increase. Only a slight increase in the beer is disclosed in the quarterly figures for the period October, November and December, and dairy produce shows an increase. Meat, on the other baud, is lower in the month’y figures for December.? The figures under the three main headings show increases. There was no honey exported in this month in either year. DUNEDIN RETURNS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, January 1. The net Customs receipts for the year totalled £759,399.185. lid., as compared with £840,300 12s. 4d. last year. The beer duty was £231,870 7s. 7d., as against £228,547 Bs. last year.
