FREE AMBULANCE

MEETING OF BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Wellington hree Ambulance Board was held last night, Mr. C. Norwood presiding. Ihe superintendent (Mr. F. Rolfe) reported that cases attended since the inception of the service totalled 5452, and 60,829 miles had been covered. During the month cases attended numbered 423. of which 82 were from accidents. Th» members of the honorary staff rendered 484 hours of honorary duty. Sixteen staffs had been added to the contribution scheme.

. The Hutt County Council, in forwarding its contribution for 1928-29, expressed appreciation of the highly commendable work being carried on by the Ambulance Service.

It was decided that another car be purchased and that tenders be called. The interim balance-sheet of the board was discussed, and it was decided that a building, fund be established. Mr. G. Mitchell said it would be necessary to write the present building down heavily on deprwmHon.
