SINKING OF VESTRIS
REPORT ON INVESTIGATION
MANAGEMENT OF VESSEL CRITICISED

Commissioner Frank O’Neill has published his official report on the investigation into the sinking of the Vestris. The report said that the hearing had shown no basis for prosecuting anyone for the disaster in the United States, but the commissioner criticised the management of the vessel, and urged a stricter inspection of ships of foreign registry in the American trade. He said that such vessels should be given the same inspection as American vessels, unless they held certificates of inspection from the country of registry-
