HAIRDRESSERS’ DISPUTE
POINTS FOR THE COURT TO DECIDE.
A Council of Conciliation meeting was held yesterday to consider proposals made by the workers’ union for a new award for the Wellington hairdressers. Messrs. Scott, Roxburgh and Chapman represented the union of workers, and Miss M. Stamford with Messrs. Dunean and Nash represented the interests of the employers. Mr. B. L. Hanunond acted as agent for the employers. An agreement was reached upon all disputed points with the exception of the day upon which the half-holiday should be observed, and the question as to whether wages should be deducted for accidents. The parties desired that the Court of Arbitration should deal with both these questions.
