CONVERSION’INTO OILBURNERS (United Service.) .London, December 19. Tn order to increase efficiency, speed, cargo space, and passengers’ comforts, the boilers of the five principal P. and O. Branch Line steamers in the Australian trade, the Baradine, the Balranald, the Ballarat, the Bendigo, and the Barrabool, will be converted into oil burners, and fitted with the BauerWach system of exhaust turbine. Tlie Baradine will be equipped at the end of March to enable her to sail in April. The others will be equipped as they arrive from Australia, the work to be completed by June. The passengei accommodation will be renovated, and the ventilation improved.
