MILFORD’S “PIRATE SHIP”
RATEPAYERS PROTEST Dominion Special Service. Auckland, December 20. Last night the Takapuna Borough Council granted a license for a “pirate ship” erected on Milford Beach. A strong protest was entered by Mr. J. Guiniven, who declared that the license was being granted by the council contrary to public opinion. He also thought that the "pirate ship” would lower the moral tone of Milford in connection with a dancing board near the pirate ship. The council decided to place notice boards at Milford prohibiting dancing on Sundays and also dancing in bathing costume.
