WELLINGTON PLUNKET SHIELD TEAM FURTHER CHANGES N. Gallichan, of Palmerston North, has notified that he will be unable to play for Wellington against Otago in the Blanket Shield match commencing at the Basin Reserve on Monday next, as Manawatu will be defending the Hawke Cup at Christinas time. The sole selector (Mr. K. H. Tucker) has invited F. Hoar, of Masterton, to till the vacancy. Hoar is a right-hand, slowmedium bowler, who kept an excellent length in the recent Town v. Country match. He is also a sound defensive batsman, and has a few centuries to his credit in club games in the Wairarapa. WELLINGTON TEAM FOR GISBORNE. Mr. A. Donoghue, of t.ie Midland Club, is taking a Wellington team to Gisborne at the New Year. This will be a boon to the Poverty Bay players, who do not get many visits from outside teams, owing to the isolation of their district. The city players can look forward to a thoroughly enjoyable trip, as Poverty Bay hospitality is proverbial. WELLINGTON JUNIOR TEAM SOME NOTES QN THE PLAYERS. The following team will represent Wellington in the annual junior match for the Wellington-Auckland junior cup, to commence at Auckland on Boxing Day: —Hawkins (Old Boys), captain, C. Bilby (Institute), Hepburn (Kilbirnie), Griffiths (Kilbirnie), Neal (Johnsonville), Robinson (University), Du Chateau (Wellington College), Morgan (Midland), Tindall (MidlandJ, Morris (Institute), Fortune (Institute). Mr. L. J. Brabin, chairman of the Junior Committee, will accompany the team as manager. Morgan (Midland) is a fast bowler and forceful bat. He has been very consistent this season ; last season in three innings running he put up three centuries.

Tindall (Midland) is playing his first year in junior A, and has proved himself worthy of a place among the best. His 57 against Petone last Saturday and 94 against Wellington the previous Saturday were made in fine style. He is also good behind the sticks. Morris (Institute) is batting very well. He has played in five innings this season, and has an average of 67 runs per innings; an exceptionally good field. Fortune is it fast bowler, who up to date has taken 21 wickets at an average of 10 runs per wicket. His batting average is 25. Bowling against Porirua he sent down eight overs, seven of which were maidens, and took three wickets for 1 run.

Griffiths (Kilbirnie) is no doubt a bowler; spins the ball well, and turns both ways at medium pace. He is a good bat, his best score this season being 60 against Midland. Neal (Johnsonville) opened the season with a century against Institute. lie made top score against Horowhenua at Levin, and is a good change bowler. Robinson (’Varsity) is perhaps the most promising bat in junior cricket. He made 141 in the last match.

Du Chateau’s (Wellington College) score of 45 against Auckland last season was the best of the match.

Hawkins played for Wellington College first eleven last season. He is a good wicketkeeper and solid type of bat, and in the opinion of the Junior Committee will ably lead the team. C. Bilby is one of Institute’s best boys; has made several good scores this season and bowls a good ball, swinging in from leg. He put up the fine performance of six wickets for 11 runs against Petone, and seven for 10 against Kilbirnie last season. Hepburn is a consistent bat, his last three knocks being 40. 60 and 30; slow break bowler; good field.
