The total value of permits issued during November was reported to be £43,347 1 os., as against £28.679 for the corresponding period last year an increase of £14.668 10s. The sum was made up of £26.465 for dwellings in wood. £12.073 for dwellings in concrete, £2500 for shops, and the remaining sum for other buildings. "These figures speak volumes for the progress that is being made,” remarked the Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand). “They are almost double the figures for the corresponding period of last year.
