MINISTERIAL OFFICES
ESTABLISHED IN OTHER CENTRES
The establishment at an early date of Ministerial offices at Auckland, Christchurch and Dunadin was contemplated by the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) yesterday.
In reply, to a question yesterday the Prime Minister explained that the quarters were not being provided as the permanent offices of the Ministers resident in the cities mentioned, but so that Ministers would have some definite official place at which to attend to Government business when absent from Wellington. The arrangement would also suit the public convenience, obviating special visits to Wellington. Cabinet meetings would, of course, be held in Wellington. Sir Joseph Ward added that no new buildings would require to be erected to give effect to the proposal, as premises were already available In Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
