PROSPEROUS OUTLOOK
CONDITIONS IN FIJI Dominion Special Service. Auckland, December 17. Provided there are no drastic hurricanes or any other untoward happenings, next year will be one of prosperity for Fiji. This is the opinion of Sir Henry Scott, K.C., of Suva, and a member of the Executive and Legislative Councils of the colony, who was a passenger from Sydney by the Niagara to-day. Sir Henry said that In addition to the £BOO,OOO loan recently raised by the colony, a further loan of £150,000 was contemplated. This, he thought, could be raised at a reasonable rate of interest within the colony. “The finances of Fiji are iu a splendid condition,” added Sir Henry, “and so far as I know we have nothing to worry about.”
